Tom Hayhoe
Chair @West London NHS Trust
Tom’s interest in healthcare was sparked by a course in health economics and policy taken when, as a result of an economics A level taken at St Pauls, he secured exemption from a microeconomics course required when studying for an MBA at Stanford as a Harkness Fellow and had to fill a gap in his academic programme. This led ultimately to a series of board roles in the NHS in West London which he held alongside a private career as a consultant with McKinsey and then as a retailer with WH Smith and Gamestation. He was appointed chair of West Middlesex University Hospital in 2010 and then chair of West London Mental Health Trust (subsequently renamed West London NHS Trust) in 2015. He has chaired Fitness to Practise panels for the Nursing and Midwifery Council for the past nine years and was a trustee of Versus Arthritis (previously Arthritis Research UK) between 2012 and 2020.
